Organizational Goals

Primary Goals

The primary goals of the McDonough County Democratic Women’s organization is to:

  • Challenge all our members to be strong, visible, verbal allies to all marginalized and under-represented groups of people
  • oppose all forms of ableism, bigotry, homophobia, sexism, transphobia, white supremacy, xenophobia, denialism, and fascism
  • strengthen participation of women and girls in all levels of civic engagement
  • promote awareness of the basics of public policy-making at local, state, and federal levels
  • promote inter-sectional, culturally-competent awareness of democratic party principles, goals, methods, structure, procedures, traditions, and history
  • promote progressive, inter-sectional, feminist democratic principles, policies, events, services, organizations and people
  • connect party members to each other, to the state and national party, and to allies
  • be of direct service to those in need in our communities
  • challenge abuses of power and authority
  • raise community expectations for performance and services of public officials and employees
